Instrument Rating (Restricted)

The rating entitles the holder to fly under instrument flight rules.

What are the privileges of an Instrument Rating (Restricted)?

The Instrument Rating (Restricted) allows you to act as Pilot-in-Command under instrument meteorological conditions (IMC) within UK airspace. It allows you to use let-down and approach procedures to published decision height or minimum descent height and to undertake missed approach procedures.

How long is it valid for?

The Instrument Rating (Restricted) is valid for 25 months. Regardless of whether you need to renew (if less than five years expired) or revalidate, you must pass a proficiency check with an examiner.
