Buying a voucher

For help and advise on which voucher is right for you.

On a Trial Lesson, you'll sit in the left hand (Captain's) seat and you'll be able to exerience flying the aircraft and operating some of the main controls.
That's totally up to you, after all, you know the person you're buying it for better than anyone. However, we can guide you by saying that all our lessons involve hands-on control of the aircraft. The 30 minute flights usually give enough time to fly around the local area, but if you're wanting to go further afeild, we reccomend the 60 minute flight. The four seater aircraft allows two passengers to share the experience, whereas the two seater does not.

On the day

We're as excited as you to take to the skies. However, there are a few things that you need to do before we can get you flying.

You'll be asked to fill in our electronic temporary members form, which we need for insurance purposes. Your instructor will give you a safety brief and walk you to the aircraft. You'll be shown around the aircraft before climbing in. After take-off, you'll be encouraged to take control whilst flying.
It's advised that you arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before your allocated time, due to limited waiting facilities in the office. There is also a cafe on the airfield in which you can wait.
We're unable to offer Trial Lessons in unsuitable weather conditions for safety reasons, but also because you probably won't enjoy your exerience. It may be obvious that it's foggy or very windy or less obvious, such as the cloudbase may be very low. The weather may also be localised, so please telephone to avoid a wasted journey. We'll contact you if we can, and we'll always do our best to re-book your lesson.
It's best to wear comfortable non-restrictive clothing, and avoid high-heeled shoes or boots. Non-slip soles are best. It's worth bringing a sweater or jacket, although all our aircraft have heaters and will be almost as warm as your car, sometimes in winter they can be draughty. Also, don't forget your camera!

Customer feedback is important to us and most of our business comes from word of mouth. Because of this, we send one follow up email on the day of your experience. That's all you'll hear from us. If you enjoyed your experience, please take the time to review us.
We can sign you up as a member on the day, or you can take some information away to think about at home. Our staff are all more than happy to answer any questions that you may have, or take a look at the courses that we offer.

Terms and conditions

Here's the boring, but necessary stuff. Please make sure that you've read our terms before buying a voucher.

  1. All flights are carried out subject to suitable weather conditions, aircraft serviceability and operational requirements being met, as such all flights are subject to cancellation at short notice. In the event of your flight being cancelled for any reason whatsoever, including aircraft un-serviceability and/or inclement weather the operator (Gamston Flying School Limited) will not be responsible for the costs of travel, accommodation or any other associated costs incurred.
  2. The voucher cannot be exchanged for any other goods and/or services.
  3. The voucher may be upgraded for an increased duration of lesson or larger aircraft (where applicable) but the client will be liable for the cost to upgrade the voucher.
  4. Vouchers are valid for 6 months from the date of issue.
  5. Refunds may be given provided that the voucher is valid and unused but an administration fee of £20.00 will be incurred. A receipt of payment and the voucher code must be provided for the voucher to be refunded.
  6. The voucher may be extended beyond the expiry date but a cost of £15.00 per month will be charged for this service.
  7. Children must be 10 years or over to undertake a Flight Experience/Trial Lesson.
  8. There is an individual passenger weight restriction of 17 Stone (108kg). We may decline to fly passengers if the aircraft's safe operating limit is reached.
  9. The Pilot/Instructor as Captain of the aircraft has at his/her discretion the right to refuse to carry any person onboard the aircraft whom they consider to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs or who is acting inappropriately in any manner or way. The Captain’s word is final in this instance.
  10. All participants should ensure that they are in reasonably good health, and fully mobile unaided. If in doubt they should seek the medical advice of a GP.
  11. All clients wishing to participate in the flight must sign in as a temporary member.
  12. Passengers wishing to take/use cameras and/or other photographic equipment on the flight do so entirely at their own risk.
  13. Whilst every reasonable precaution will be taken to ensure the safety of all passengers and guests it shall be noted that neither the aircraft owner nor the aircraft operator can be held liable for any loss, damage or injury to any persons or their property/belongings, which does not result from their direct negligence.
  14. Any participant/person failing to take their confirmed flight shall render the voucher invalid.
  15. In the event that any flight is cancelled by the operator, the flight voucher shall remain valid until the original expiry date shown and the flight will be re-booked for a mutually convenient date.
