    Wednesday th November 2020
The latest Government guidance states that "Private pilots should not undertake any sport or leisure flying, in line with the requirement to stay at home without reasonable excuse". They also recommend that flight training for private pilots not continue while the national restrictions are in place.

Because of this, we will be closing for all flying operations between Thursday 5th November and Wednesday 2nd December at this time.

Members with existing bookings will be cancelled until 2nd December. Please check the Members Area for confirmation of cancelled slots.

Other customers (including Trial Flying Lesson customers) with existing bookings will be contacted with sufficient notice before their affected booking.

Virgin Experience Days vouchers have automatically been extended until at least 31st March 2021. Gamston Flying School and Pheonix Flying School vouchers already marked as postponed are not affected. If your voucher is due to expire before 2nd December and hasn't been marked as postponed, please let us know and we will help.

Phones lines and emails will remain manned, however on a much reduced basis, so please only contact us if absolutely necessary.

    Tuesday rd October 2020
We will not be taking additional bookings of Trial Flying Lesson vouchers or rebooking cancelled Trial Flying Lesson bookings at this time due to the national lockdown being introduced and uncertainty of it's duration. Once measures are relaxed we will start accepting bookings again.

We are still awaiting detailed guidance of how the national lockdown from Thursday 5th November will affect our existing operations. We have been in contact with the UK CAA who are working closely with the Department for Transport on releasing guidance in the coming days.

This page will be updated as soon as we have clear guidance and should it be necessary, customers with existing bookings will be contacted.

    Wednesday th November 2020
From Friday, 30th October 2020, Nottinghamshire county will move to the tier 3 very high local Covid alert level.

We will continue to operate a normal schedule, however the move to a higher tier does mean that we'll need to now add additional measures to our existing measures to continue to operate safely. These are:
    • Spectators must all be from the same household as the student / Trial Flying Lesson participant.
    • Rental flight crew and passengers to be from the same household.
    • Four seat Trial Flying Lesson participants to be from the same household (This excludes the instructor).

You can read more about Nottinghamshire's restrictions here.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please call us on 01777 838222. Please note that phones lines do sometimes get busy, but we endeavour to respond to voicemails in a timely manner.

    Wednesday th October 2020
The Government has announced the three tier local Covid alert level system which is enforceable from today. In Nottinghamshire, where we are, we fall under the HIGH category. This means that we have to slightly change the way in which we have been working.

To continue to operate safely we will now require:
    • rental flight crew and passengers to be from the same household.
    • four seat Trial Flying Lesson participants to be from the same household (This excludes the instructor).

As dual training flights are provided as a service, these can continue as normal.

We understand that you may be unsure - please ask us if you have any questions.

We are now in a position to safely offer those wanting to take Theoretical Knowledge Examinations the ability to do so.

We're offering slots to our existing members at 10:00 and 12:00 Thursday - Saturday, bookable on our online booking system. However, if you would like a different slot, please call us on 01777 838222 and we will do our best to accommodate you.
This will ensure that we can maintain social distancing and give adequate time to clean rooms between uses.

    Saturday th May 2020
Yesterday, the Department for Transport (DfT) announced guidance for lifting of restrictions on solo flying in England. However, as the airfield remains closed and as most rental customers are out of currency requirements, we will not be allowing any flying at this time.
It has also been mentioned that the guidance could just apply to private owners and we are awaiting clarification that hire of aircraft is allowed.

AOPA are planning on meeting with the DfT and CAA on Monday (18th) to discuss the ability for short check rides to take place to allow those out of currency to regain currency.

The guidance does say that socially-distanced theoretical knowledge examinations can take place and we will be offering those needing to take examinations the ability to do so as soon as we have a firm plan in place, early next week.
